P46 is believed to be written at the beginning of the third century AD, written on papyri whence it gets its name. Most believe it was written in Egypt, but who the scribe was, we do not know. Very simple and straightforward for the reader to follow. This ancient manuscript is very valuable to the textual critic because of its age being so close to the beginning of the Christian Church.
